Course Description
This module
includes the anatomy and physiology of the gastrointestinal system, normal and abnormal findings
of the GI system in your daily assessment, and a description of a number of pathologies related
to the GI system. It also includes two case scenarios that put into practice the learner’s
understanding of the material.
This course has the goal of facilitating knowledge and confidence in the care of the newborn
patient. Neonatal Gastrointestinal Assessment is also used as a great orientation tool for
nurses wishing to pursue a career in the field of Neonatology/Nursery.
Target Audience
This module
is designed for nurses who are currently working with the newborn population. It can also
be used as an orientation tool for nurses new to this population.
