Course Description
This continuing
nursing education activity has been submitted to the New York State Nurses Association, an
accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
This module includes the definitions of apnea and apnea of prematurity. It also includes
the differences between obstructive and central apnea along with key preventative measures
when caring for the apneic infant. This module includes a case scenario that puts into practice
the learner’s understanding of the material.
This course has the goal of facilitating knowledge and confidence in the care of the newborn
diagnosed with neonatal apnea. This module is also used as a great orientation tool for nurses
wishing to pursue a career in the field of Neonatology/Nursery..
Target Audience
This module
is designed for nurses who are currently working with high risk newborns. It can also be
used as an orientation tool for nurses new to this population.
