Course Description
This module
includes a brief review of cardiac anatomy and physiology, risk factors, and history taking
and interview techniques. Assessment tips for the patient with chest pain, common causes
of chest pain and possible interventions are also included in this module. The author relates
real life experiences at the bedside to the underlying physiology to promote the development
critical thinking skills via a case scenario post test.
This course has the goal of facilitating knowledge and confidence in the care of the cardiac
patient. This module is designed for nurses who are currently practicing in the cardiac arena
or they may wish to refresh their current knowledge base in cardiac assessment.
Target Audience
This module
is designed for nurses who are currently working with the cardiac population. It can also
be used as a refresher tool for nurses with experience in the cardiac arena.
