Course Description
This course
serves as a comprehensive anatomy guide to gain confidence in Cardiac Assessment. This module
includes a review of cardiac anatomy and physiology, the function of all parts, risk factors,
history taking and interview techniques. Assessment tips and interventions for the patient
with chest pain, common causes of chest pain, heart sounds and how the blood pressure works
(preload and afterload) is also discussed. The author relates real life experiences at the
bedside to the underlying physiology to promote the development critical thinking skills.
Cardiac assessment will no longer be overwhelming upon completion of this module.
This course has the goal of facilitating knowledge and confidence in the care of the cardiac
patient. Adult Cardiac Assessment is also used as a great orientation tool for nurses wishing
to pursue a career in the cardiology, critical care or emergency nursing.

This module
is designed for nurses currently practicing in the cardiac arena, or as an orientation tool
for nurses wishing to work in cardiology, critical care or emergency nursing.
