Announcements
Post the latest news about general site interest and items of course-related activity. Two types of announcements are available: System announcments and announcements specific to a course.

Announcements can be entered by the instructor (specific to course) or administrator (system-wide announcement) and appear on the learner’s Home page upon entering the learning site.  The title of a specific course will appear with the specific announcement. A beginning-date and end-date for the announcement can also be entered.

Learner Chat
The Chat feature provides an area for live messaging.  Users can post messages, attach files, and send e-mail to any individual who is in the chat room. Like Discussion, all Chat messages can be viewed and edited by the instructor or administrator.

Discussion Groups
The Discussion feature allows users to post and reply to messages in the form of discussion threads, or topics.  There is a separate discussion area for each lesson in a course.

All unread messages and all new messages since the user’s last visit to Discussion are indicated with a symbol next to the message. File attachments can be posted with any message.

The instructor or administrator can view and edit messages in the Discussion area, and can participate in Discussion along with the learners.

  Instructor Email
Class email enables learners to easily send emails to the instructor for a specific course.  The instructor or administrator can easily select all learners to issue an email to the entire class.

Blogs
Related to a specific course, this feature provides the ability to log and use blogs. A blog (shorthand for web log) is where web entries are written in chronological order and commonly displayed in reverse chronological order.

A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for learners to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs.

Podcasts
A podcast is a digital media file, or a series of files, that is distributed over the Internet using syndication feeds for playback on portable media players and personal computers. In this case the LearningServer LMS class is the syndication feed to send podcasts to your iPod and MP3 players.
